Walden Woods DRI (2004-2023)

Walden Woods is a 500-acre Development of Regional Impact located between Tampa and Lakeland in Plant City, FL.

Plant City, famous for being the home of the annual Florida Strawberry Festival, is ever-expanding and has seen an increase in community development residentially, commercially, and industrially in the last 10 years. Walden Woods has been in Potomac Land Company’s portfolio since 2004. It was originally designed for industrial users, but Potomac transformed the park and converted 200 acres to roughly 700 units of residential townhomes and single family homes. The Townhomes at Walden Woods located north of Alexander Road and on the East side of Walden Woods Blvd constructed in 2006 with two different product lines of tri-plexus and townhomes and 140 units. The amenities include Pool and cabana and landscaped open space, the builder was DR Horton and the community sold through the recession. The homes started from the low $200Ks.

Whispering Woods a single-family home community on Walden Woods Blvd with 142 homes. Constructed south of Alexander Blvd in 2008, the community is surrounded by wetlands and lakes and was the premiere community in the area for the early part of this decade. The amenities include a pool and cabana, walking trails, and a nature preserve. The builder was DR Horton, who sold homes starting in the $200Ks.

The Pond at Walden Woods (under construction 2019-) is a 48.68 upland-acre site with density approval for up to 472 units and a preliminary concept plan for 157 Single-Family 45’ x 120’ and 50’ x 120’ lots in the Walden Woods DRI. The property is centrally located near Interstate 4 which provides easy access to commute the approximately 20 miles to Downtown City of Tampa and has over 1800’ frontage on Alexander Street (Hwy 39A), the City’s main thoroughfare.
